My Thoughts on Trees

Whenever I see trees, I am reminded of a book my father always read to me before going to sleep.  The book is entitled "The Giving Tree" by  Shel Silverstein.
source
My father likes this book very much.  It is a gift from his Auntie and has been in their family's possession for a good number of years now.  The book is very easy to read and understand.  The story and plot is also very simple. But the moral of the story has such good impact that one does not get tired of reading it over and over again.  The book speaks of two main characters, a boy growing up and a tree who is always happy to please the boy. Many interpretations about the moral of the book has been made but to me, the book speaks of love and giving.

I have learned to love trees and care for mother nature as a whole. I have learned to respect the environment and all the other living things God has created.

Right now, our teacher is teaching us the poem Trees by Joyce Kilmer.  She is asking us to memorize the poem. I am happy to say that I am almost done.  I find it not that difficult to do being a tree-lover myself.  Allow me to share it with you.

Thank you dad for giving me your time reading me this wonderful book. Thank you too for the patience of doing it again and again and instilling in me the value of caring for them.

Long and Casual Dress

Sometimes I'm in the mood to wear dresses, just like today for the Sunday Mass,

Checkered, long, and casual...

Worn with jelly, glittery sandals,

Finished off with braided hair swept on one side...

and a smile brighter than sunshine.

Creating Individuality in Wearing PE Uniforms with Fashionable Footwear

My children have more options today to express their individuality than I did during my time when it came to wearing uniforms. In wearing the PE uniform, I didn't have much choice as we were required to use all-white rubber shoes or sneakers only. Today, my children can dress up their PE uniform without having to alter it in any way but by simply opting for fashionable footwear that does not only provide comfort but style as well.

My daughter whose favorite color is pink chose this pair of World Balance rubber shoes almost instantaneously from the choices available in the Zalora online store.

My son who is more conservative in his color choices opted for this green/gray World Balance rubber shoes also from Zalora online store.

We were really looking for a replacement of their old rubber shoes since they have outgrown them in size. That is our usual problem with their shoes since they tend to outgrow them before they have maximized their use. This is the reason why we don't find it very practical to buy very expensive shoes.

World Balance Kinematic Sneakers

World Balance Overspeed Sneakers

The young people today are more conscious of showing their individuality and allowing them to choose their own footwear to be worn with their uniforms is just one way of allowing them to do just that. They need not violate any existing school rules to be comfortable and fashionable.

Tomato Must Haves

Every once in a while, I make it a point to add pieces to my wardrobe and personal stuff just so to update what I already have. Much as I am sometimes tempted to buy the first ones that get my attention, I have learned the value of choosing those that will go well with what I already have. My latest buys consist of what I would call my own Tomato Must Haves.

"Dusk" Shoulder Bag

I chose this bag for the following reasons:

1. Its roomy space which easily accommodates everything I need to bring with space to spare.
2. Its side pocket which can accommodate a small folded umbrella or bottled water, items which I prefer to find easily and not buried among my other things.
3. Its color which I can easily match with my clothes and shoes.

"Reptilia" Ballet Flats

I chose this pair of shoes for these reasons:

1. It matches the bag I chose.
2. It is very comfortable to wear.
3. Again, for its neutral color which I can easily match with my clothes and bags.

"Simply Chic" Wallet

I chose this because:

1. It was time for a change in wallet as my old one has been maximized in use.
2. For its neutral color as well since I don't intend to change wallets anyway for any change in clothes, bags, or shoes.
3. It accommodated everything I needed to be in a wallet in a very orderly way.

Tomato Online Store

I bought all these 3 items through the Tomato Online Store. I especially like the fact that "Cash on Delivery" payment option is available. My order was delivered 3 days from the date of my order.

So these are my Tomato Must Haves, what's yours?

Light in the Darkness

You are a small light in the darkness,

But to me that is enough,

I'd rather have you,

Than nothing at all,

Lest the darkness completely engulfs me,

And strips me of all hope.

Here Comes the Giant

Oh here comes the giant,

Taking another building thinking it was a toy,

Oh no, Oh no, I shouted!

And started to cry,

Until I realized it was only my brother,

Gamely posing for my trick shot.

Artful Expressions of Love

Last night I fell asleep quite early but I remember my daughter trying to wake me up. She was saying something about a surprise. But my eyes just can't seem to open.

It was already early morning when I woke up with a start. My daughter was sleeping beside me. I saw these drawings on the bedroom table and can't help smiling at my daughter's artful expressions of love.

I probably have dozens of these coming in all sorts and sizes of paper. The small ones are tucked in my wallet, the bigger ones in a clear book. Some are pinned on our cork board or held by magnets on the fridge.

She is especially fond of drawing us together and it will always come with the words "I love mama". I know she will not always be this expressive especially when she grows up but I'm hoping she will not change. Maybe it's about time I draw something for her, inscribed with the words "I love Ada".

Restyled Witch Costume

I first used this black dress as part of a witch costume last Halloween. Together with my black tights, witch hat, and boots, it was just perfect for a pretty witch costume. As you will see in my succeeding posts here, I am fond of recycling things I have so I can still use them for other purposes. That includes my clothes.

So I traded my witch hat for a headband, my boots for my brother's slip-on shoes, and removed the tights so I can achieve a casual look.

Now, without a witch broom as well, I will have to find another way to fly in my restyled witch costume.

Sige Moms Share Saturday Family Bonding Activities

Since today is Saturday, let me share with you how the Circle of Sige Moms of Breeze Sige Sabado Movement spend this day bonding with their respective families. For those who are not familiar with this special group of women, these are moms who have adopted the "Sige sa mantsa" parenting philosophy. This philosophy is all about allowing kids to be kids by exploring and learning positive values even at the expense of getting dirty and stained.

For rocker mom Barbie Almalbis-Honasan, Saturdays are spent filling the house with music. Barbie and her daughter have fun doing music together as she hands her child with an instrument while she practices.

Christine Bersola-Babao makes sure that she has at least three days of arts and crafts every week. How to do that? Weekends start early at the Babao's so from Friday to Sunday, she says we'll probably catch them molding clay or rolling real dough in the kitchen.

Moms Dimples Romana and Gladys Reyes would rather be in the kitchen with their children when not taping a show. Dimples shared the she spends Saturdays with her daughter who is currently taking cake decorating classes. She makes special mention as well of their regular family weekend trips. Gladys is especially proud that her son's love and creativity for baking is now being seen as well in his paintings and drawings.

Nikki Valdez, being another musically inclined mom, shares her love for singing with her daughter. When not crooning together, her daughter loves spending Saturday afternoons riding the bike.

So there you have it, five celebrity moms sharing how they like spending their weekends with their family without fear of creating a mess. The Circle of Sige Moms fearlessly thread the world of paint spills, kitchen clutter, glue leaks, and scattered glitters because they have products like Breeze to rely on.When we think of our lives, we'd probably realize that messy moments can be the best memories we can create with our children.

Freehand Drawing of Spongebob Cartoon Characters

I drew these Spongebob cartoon characters from memory using a pencil and crayons. I prefer to draw this way rather than copying from pictures. My mom says they're very good. I hope you think so too.

A Lizard to Start With

Normally I would be running away at the sight of a lizard,
but curiosity got the better of me,
I quietly backed away to get my camera,
nervous and excited at the same time,
I peered and adjusted the range,
and took this picture before it ran away.
