My Thoughts on Trees

Whenever I see trees, I am reminded of a book my father always read to me before going to sleep.  The book is entitled "The Giving Tree" by  Shel Silverstein.

My father likes this book very much.  It is a gift from his Auntie and has been in their family's possession for a good number of years now.  The book is very easy to read and understand.  The story and plot is also very simple. But the moral of the story has such good impact that one does not get tired of reading it over and over again.  The book speaks of two main characters, a boy growing up and a tree who is always happy to please the boy. Many interpretations about the moral of the book has been made but to me, the book speaks of love and giving.

I have learned to love trees and care for mother nature as a whole. I have learned to respect the environment and all the other living things God has created.

Right now, our teacher is teaching us the poem Trees by Joyce Kilmer.  She is asking us to memorize the poem. I am happy to say that I am almost done.  I find it not that difficult to do being a tree-lover myself.  Allow me to share it with you.

Thank you dad for giving me your time reading me this wonderful book. Thank you too for the patience of doing it again and again and instilling in me the value of caring for them.
