I have long requested permission to adopt a stray cat but each time I get the same answer from my parents - NO. It's too much responsibility, they say. Your brother's allergic to animal hair, they added. There were many other reasons, all simply saying NO.

Then one morning you were there, lying beside the cage of our dove who has been with us for almost 17 years. Maybe that was what made you readily acceptable to our household. Maybe that was what made you unique. Normally, our dove would fret endlessly in his cage when approached by any cat or dog. He is quiet with you beside him, not seeing you as a threat. 

I named you Wonie from one of the members of a Korean singing group I follow. Stay safe, stay playful, my unexpected pet.
